The PGA Tour has reached a deal with Strategic Sports Group, a consortium of billionaire sports team owners, to infuse up to $3 billion into a new for-profit entity called the PGA Tour Enterprises, of which current commissioner, Jay Monahan, will be CEO. As a part of this deal, those who remained loyal to the Tour (and still have their card) will receive equity in the new company and Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund (PIF), creator of LIV Golf League, has the option to co-invest in the new entity, subject to regulatory approvals.
From our perspective, the looming question remains, how will the fan benefit from all these changes? Fans don’t care pros are making more money than ever. Ultimately, we want to see the product continue to improve and to date that hasn’t been the case. Not to mention, the guy who got us here, Jay Monahan, now runs both the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Enterprises 🤦♂️. Until Jay is removed as commissioner and CEO, we expect more of the same, a declining product with declining viewership. With that said! We’re hopeful this consortium of money hungry investors have the right background, experience, and motivation to make the changes necessary.
LIV Golf Preview: The 2024 LIV Golf Season opens at Mayakoba this weekend with the most momentum they’ve had yet after signing Jon Rahm and Tyrell Hatton this offseason. We’ve seen a significant tone change from different guys on the PGA Tour (especially Rory McIlroy) about LIV golf as they move toward a possible merger.
Lastly, what a coincidence, a day after this big announcement and the same weekend LIV begins their season in Mayakoba, the PGA tour has their second elevated event of the year, the Pebble Beach pro-am. Is it surprising the PGA Tour’s signature events are starting to look more and more like the style of LIV? 50 players, no cuts… we think not 👀.

The Pebble Beach Pro-Am is the second signature event of the 2024 PGA Tour season which will boast quite the lineup of participants, from some of the best golfers in the world (41 of the top 50 in the OWGR are competing) to a star-studded collection of other athletes.
Josh Allen, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Larry Fitzgerald are just a select few of the non-professional golfers teeing it up this week in the pro-am portion of the event, with Rodgers looking to successfully defend his title.
TV Schedule: Golf Channel will carry live coverage on Thursday and Friday from 3-7 p.m. EST. On Saturday, Golf Channel will start the coverage from 1-3 p.m. with CBS taking over with late afternoon coverage from 3-7 p.m. EST. On Sunday, Golf Channel begins coverage from 1-3 p.m. with CBS finishing the event from 3-6:30 p.m.
Strokes: JT has been playing MUCH better golf to start off the 2024 season. If not for Nick Dunlap coming in and sniping the American Express he had a shot. We expect him to get off to a hot start at Pebble. Less than 70.5 strokes.
Birdies or Better: We had the pleasure of following around Beau Hossler for the final round at the 2022 Pebble Beach Pro Am. While we came up a bogey on 16 short in cashing that +20,000 bet ($100 to win $20,000), we’ve seen the kid GO OFF, especially at Pebble. Beau over 3.5 birdies.

We are exploring a name change…. Why you ask? Well, the short answer is because there is another LoopGolf that our customers keep confusing us with and our trademark attempts have fallen short. But don’t worry, we’re looking at this problem as a very exciting opportunity to elevate our brand and establish ourselves in a new light. You might be familiar with our Easy Money logo which we’ve used mostly on our hats to date. This has quickly become one of our top choices to replace LoopGolf Club.
