The Sunday Sweat
Genesis Scottish Open
Every Sunday, the LoopGolf team writes a newsletter for our community highlighting all the action around golf, betting and culture.
🐺 Wolf is coming.
Given this has been the most requested game type from our community we have spent the past few months designing and building out the Wolf experience. And we’re close!! TBH this is a rather nuanced game type given rotating teams and the multiple ways to play it so it has taken a bit longer than anticipated.
As always we want to provide as seamless and unintrusive experience as humanly possible, so while it has taken us a bit longer than we and I’m sure you all were hoping, we think it will be well worth the wait.
In order to make sure we nail the experience before we launch it to our entire community we’re asking for folks who would like to be part of the beta testing of Wolf to raise their hand 🙋. Fill out this form if you’d like to get early access!
Questions still abound on the PGA TOUR <> LIV circus, I mean merger, after Tuesday’s Senate hearing.
The biggest takeaway was that PIF, the Saudi Arabia investment fund, will invest $1 billion in the new for profit entity, currently named ..🥁.. NewCo. A significant chunk of change if you ask me and as a reminder NewCo will be controlled by the PGA TOUR..
But we’re still a long way off from having any idea on how that money will be spent. Hell, even the PGA TOUR execs apparently don’t have a clue. Jimmy Dunne repeatedly told senators during the hearing that the sides only have a “framework agreement” and there is still a lot to be hashed out before a final deal is reached.
As for the players, Scheffler was asked this past Wednesday what he thought of the hearing, “I just think yesterday we didn’t learn a whole lot, again… they’re saying this is a player run organization, and we don’t really have the information we need.”
As for Rory, “If LIV Golf was the last place to play golf on Earth, I would retire. That’s how I feel about it.” Tell us how you really feel, Rory. Or just go win the Scottish Open 👇.
⛳️ Tournament: Genesis Scottish Open
💰 Purse: $9,000,000
🎥 Watch: 12-3pm EST (CBS)
Eight of the top 10 players in the world have flown across the pond early to compete in the Scottish Open, making it one of the strongest fields of the Summer. This co-sanctioned event between the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour has become known the British Open warm up given these players must quickly adjust their styles of play to accommodate a very different style of golf.
The Narrative: Well folks. Here we are again. Rors is not only in the hunt going into the final round of the Scottish Open, the kid has a one shot lead. In 13 starts this season, Rory has one win, two runner-ups, three top-5’s, and eight top-10’s. Put another way, in 62% of Rory’s starts this season he’s been in the mix. So what’s been the cause of his inability to close this season??? Well let’s put it this way, this season, Rory is 4th in total strokes gained (SG), 2nd in SG off the tee, 8th in SG approach to green, and…. 86th in SG putting 💀.
Hopefully Rory and his caddie spent last night in a hallucinogenic ceremony purging the demons from the flat stick. He’s going to need it to outrun the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Shane Lowry, and Tommy Fleetwood.
Stephen Curry aka the human highlight reel knocked in his second ever hole-in-one this weekend at the ACC Championship in Lake Tahoe, California.

Tom Kim captured the moment beautifully when you finally hit a fairway… I think we can all relate to this one.
It’s the little things in golf 😂

Outright Winner: Tommy Fleetwood @ +700 ($100 to win $700)
Why? Tommy Fleetwood is just simply due to win one of these tournaments… We always think of Tommy as a guy we like to back when we want a player that can navigate the wind with just pure ball striking and solid strokes gained from around the green. He’s that type of player, and it seems like Sunday will set up just perfectly for his game to shine.
