The Sunday Sweat
Valspar Championship
Every Sunday, the LoopGolf team writes a newsletter for our community highlighting all the action around golf, betting and culture.
Earlier this week the USGA and R&A released a joint statement that they plan to propose a rule that would limit the distance a golf ball can travel at the professional level starting in January 2026.
This would in essence βreduce hitting distances by 14-15 yards on average for the longest hitters with the highest club head speeds.β Itβs important to note, this change is being recommended by the USGA and R&A. As of now this would not impact PGA TOUR events.
This proposed Model Local Rule is intended for use only in elite competitions and, if adopted, will have no impact on recreational golf.

Tommy Fleetwood was one of the hottest rising stars on TOUR from 2017 through the start of 2020, playing his way into the top 10 in the world. But his play began to fall right as the pandemic struck and he admittedly lost his way after he losing his mom to cancer in 2021.
Currently ranked 27th in the world, Fleetwood is slowly starting to show signs of his old self again having finished top 5 in two majors in 2022, a top-20 at the Genesis this year and recently, thrust himself into contention at THE PLAYERS by shooting a third-round 65.
Make no mistake, this guy is a player and a proven winner across a world stage, counting seven international wins. This week marks his 112th TOUR start and he's still looking for that elusive PGA TOUR win. It's hard not to root for this kid and his comeback story so we're riding with Fleetwood to get it done today picking him to win at (+350).
