The Sunday Sweat

Wells Fargo Championship

Every Sunday, the LoopGolf team writes a newsletter for our community highlighting all the action around golf, betting and culture.

The Match just took things up a notch. On Thursday, June 29th at the Wynn in Las Vegas, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors will take on Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

We don’t know about you all but we absolutely love it when The Match showcases non-pro golfers. We get a peek behind the scenes of how pro athletes perform under pressure in an entirely different sport and of course, we get a front row seat to their trash talking.

As it relates to Loop, we see The Play for Tour as an extension of The Match where we take a step back from participating and get to showcase influencers, founders of other golf brands, and pro athletes compete against each other on Loop and post that content to YouTube.

If you haven’t already checked out our latest Play for Tour event, check it out here.

Product: We've been hard at work building our community a new game type. Stroke play is coming soon and the rules are simple, lowest total score wins.

Community: We are excited to announce that we've partnered with SoCal Golf Guys and the Southern California Golf Association to power their team match play event this month.

  • ⛳️ Tournament: Wells Fargo

  • 💰 Purse: $20,000,000

  • 🎥 Watch: 3-6pm ET (CBS)

The TOUR is at Quail Hollow Club (QHC) in Charlotte, NC this weekend for the 9th elevated event of the 2023 PGA TOUR season. Players will face another test of distance with Quail Hollow clocking in at 7,538 yards. QHC is most known for the final three hole stretch which is famously called the “Green Mile.”

The big guns are in the field this weekend, with 6 of the top-10 in the world golf rankings and 21 of the top-30. With that kind of fire power in the field, it’s a great test to see who’s game is peaking just in time for the PGA Championship, which takes place in two weeks from May 18th to 21st.

Rickie Fowler has quietly been putting together his best year in a long time and seems to be getting his confidence back. He has played 13 events this year; only missing one cut, posting 9 top 25’s & 4 top 5’s. He currently sits inside the top 30 of the FedEx Cup on the season and is T20 this week heading into Sunday. He finished his Saturday round in style, is BDR back? 🎯

It’s one thing to drive it near the green on a Par 4 and it’s another thing to drive it OVER the green, these guys are playing a different game than we are on the weekend. Wyndham Clark posted a bogey free 8-under on moving day and leads the field by two strokes going into Sunday.

It seems like Justin Thomas has been struggling as of late. After missing the cut at The Masters, JT fell out of the top 10 in the world for the first time since 2017. The former #1 ranked player in the world and 2-time major winner is currently ranked at #15 in the OWGR. What’s it going to take for JT to get his mojo back heading into the summer and the upcoming stretch of majors? Could be a dub at the Wells Fargo, this sure does help:

Outright Winner: We absolutely love Tyrrell Hatton at +1600 tomorrow. That's a $100 bet to win $1,600.

Why? With three top 10's in three elevated events already this season, Hatton has proven that he can perform well on the biggest stages and on the toughest courses. At 16-1 odds and only 5 back of the leader, we're riding with the fiery Englishman to finally get it done 🇬🇧 🔥
