The Sunday Sweat
PGA Championship
Every Sunday, the LoopGolf team writes a newsletter for our community highlighting all the action around golf, betting and culture.
We've all experienced golf fomo... You know those times when your friends are out on the course playing golf and your stuck at home, at the office, or at some neighbor kids birthday party... wishing you could join the action.
With LoopGolf, we want to make sure you feel apart of those moments even if you can't be there to experience them in person. That's why we're building out a new feature called LIVE. With LIVE, you'll be able to receive alerts when your friends are teeing off so you can track their matches in real-time. Eventually, you'll even be able to place bets on your friends as they compete on-course. 💸
Last week, our engineering team, led by the legendary Eric Davison, surprised us with a minimum viable version and we spent a good amount of time thinking through and designing how the first version will look and feel. We can't wait to get it in y'alls hands soon! 👀
Who is Michael Block? I think that’s a question anyone not taking lessons or playing in big money games at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo was asking themselves heading into the PGA Championship. But now Michael Block is all the golfing world is talking about.
One of the 20 PGA Professionals who qualified to compete in this year’s PGA Championship, Block entered the weekend like any of the other professionals, best case make the cut, worst case don’t shoot a 90. Not only did Block make the cut, but he’s currently T-8 at even par for the tournament and will be paired with Rory Mcllroy on Sunday at a Major Championship 🤯.
Not only has he competed but he’s also shown off his relatable personality, doing two interviews with broadcasters during his rounds (!), and he crushed it.
"I'm livin' a dream."

Who knows where Block will end up tomorrow, but suffice it to say this has been one of the best weekends of his life and with a top-10 finish tomorrow, likely puts about four years of his annual salary in the bank 🤑. Have yourself a day Mike Block!

The second major of the year is entering its final round and Oak Hill has proven to be a tough test of golf. With poor weather yesterday that added an additional level of toughness (at one point only 4-players were under par at 1-under), Sunday's weather conditions are forecasted to be perfect, with the sun shining and high's in the 70's.
The narrative: Brooks Koepka has now safely put behind him the narrative that as a professional golfer he is irrelevant. After looking like a former shell of himself on Full Swing earlier this year, he’s come out swinging in the 2023 majors season. He led heading into the final round at The Masters and ended up finishing T-2. On Saturday at the PGA Championship he shot a field best 4-under par and finds himself again in the lead heading into today’s final round. With four majors already under his belt already, two of those in the state of New York, can Brooks prove he is officially back and win his third PGA Championship?? Brooks’ swagger is back and he sure thinks so.
Viktor Hovland is only 25 years old but seems like he has been knocking at the doorstep of the top of the golf world for a while. He is consistently in the hunt at majors and has played really well this weekend at Oak Hill. He is T2 and one shot back of the lead heading into the final round. His short game has always been his weakness but it looks he's dialed that in as of late. Check out

Michael Block, the 46 year old club pro has been electric to watch all weekend. He drained this putt to finish his round at even par and only 6 back of the lead. He will get the chance to compete for the 1st place prize of $3.15 million...
He can't believe it! 💥

Brooks Koepka is back in the lead going into Sunday at the second straight major of the year. After choking away a 4-stroke lead this year to Jon Rahm at The Masters, Koepka says he’s learned from his mistakes and won’t let it happen again, he’s +120 heading into round 4. Listen to his post-round interview from Saturday 👇
🚨🗣️ PGA Championship leader Brooks Koepka says he’s learned from his failures at Augusta: “I know what I did, I promise I won’t do it again tomorrow… “It’s kind of irritating, I’ll never do it again.

Outright Winner: We like Viktor Hovland at +370. That’s a $100 bet to win $370.
Why? Hovland has been knocking on the door for quite some time but hasn’t been able to get it done yet. Hovland posted both a top 10 (2023 Masters) and a top 5 (2022 Open) in his last two major starts. Oak Hill has clearly been very difficult for the players this week, it is a par 70 that is over 7,400 yards. Hovland ranks 2nd this week in SG Approach and 3rd this week in SG Tee to Green. Hovvy is poised for his breakthrough on Sunday at the PGA Championship.
