The Sunday Sweat

Zurich Classic

Every Sunday, the LoopGolf team writes a newsletter for our community highlighting all the action around golf, betting and culture.

LIV Golf might be struggling to crack into the American market but it looks to have found something this weekend as sellout crowds flooded into their first Australian event in Adelaide. This tournament in particular looks to be closely modeled after the PGA TOURs most successful and culturally relevant event each year, the Waste Management Open.

Has the TOUR potentially given LIV the playbook for the future of golf viewership without fully embracing their own innovations? Only time will tell but for what it's worth, this LIV event looked a whole lot more appealing to attend in person than the Zurich Classic in New Orleans..

Now if LIV could dial in their TV viewership experience, attract more talented players, crack the competition code and bring some innovation to their sports betting offerings, things could get REALLY interesting.

Cam Smith didn't make a run at the Green Jacket like a lot of people thought he might at The Masters. But he is still a top 6 player in the world and seems to be happy over at LIV. This week he got to head to his home country of Australia to compete in a LIV tournament in Adelaide. Watch him get his home crowd HYPE after draining a long puttπŸ‘‡πŸ½

When I want to improve my golf game I just look up videos of Nelly Korda's swing, if you haven't seen her hit a golf ball you need to now (watch here). She is the second ranked golfer in the world currently and 2-shots back heading into the final round of the first LPGA Major of the year. Check out the hands here to convert this insane up and down:

Sunjae Im x Keith Mitchell pairing⚑️. This press conference after the first round is one of the best things you'll see from this weekend at the Zurich Classic. They are on fire this weekend and 1 back of the lead going into Sunday.

There is an LPGA major championship on the line today and Allisen Corpuz is currently T1 heading into the final round.

Prior to turning pro, Corpuz spent her college years at USC, where she was a two-time All-American and won three(!) times in her college career. During her rookie season (2022) on the LPGA Tour, Corpuz played in 24 events, made 17 cuts, and recorded three top-10 finishes, a very solid first year against the best golfers in the world.

A year later, she's hunting down her first major and looks to have all the right stuff to get it done. At +360 live odds ($100 to win $360) to win outright, we're placing a very special LPGA Sunday ticket on this up & coming star. Let's have a day!
